Personal Training in Solstice, Littleton

Private, individualized coaching for people who want to stay strong, healthy and capable for the life they want to live.

Balance Athletics provides personalized coaching for Solstice residents who want more than a collection of workouts.

Your training is built around your goals, experience, health history, schedule and the activities that matter to you—whether that means getting stronger, improving cardiovascular fitness, moving better, changing body composition, returning from an injury or maintaining the physical capacity to stay active for decades to come.

Individualized Coaching

Coaching Built Around You

No two people arrive with the same history.

Some clients are experienced exercisers who want more structure and progression. Others are returning after years away from training. Some are managing old injuries or limitations. Others are beginning to think seriously about what they want their physical life to look like at 60, 70 and beyond.

Your program takes all of that into account.

Training may include strength development, cardiovascular conditioning, mobility, balance, nutrition guidance, recovery strategies and habit coaching—but the emphasis depends on what you actually need.

The program fits the person. Not the other way around.

Life Around You

Train for the Life Around You

Solstice is a community built around movement. The High Line Canal runs through the neighborhood, community trails connect throughout Solstice, and Chatfield Lake and State Park sit just beyond it.

Your training should make those opportunities easier to enjoy.

That might mean having the strength and stability to hike comfortably, the aerobic capacity for a long day outside, the mobility to move without unnecessary restriction, or simply feeling confident that your body can continue doing what you ask of it.

The goal is not just to perform better in the gym. It is to build more capacity for life outside of it.

The Long Game

Build Physical Reserve

Most people think about fitness in terms of what they can do today.

I also think about what you want to be able to do ten, twenty or thirty years from now.

Strength, aerobic fitness, muscle, balance and movement capacity create a kind of physical reserve—more ability than everyday life requires.

That reserve gives you room for travel, recreation, demanding work, unexpected physical challenges and the inevitable changes that come with aging.

The objective is not simply to be fit. It is to remain capable.

More Than Equipment

The Facility Is Only Part of the Equation

Solstice residents already have access to an environment that makes being active easier, including community trails, the High Line Canal, parks, fitness and movement spaces, a pool and pickleball courts.

But access to a place to exercise is only part of the equation.

Knowing what to do, how much to do, how to progress it and how to adjust when life or your body changes is where coaching becomes valuable.

A well-designed program gives all of that activity direction.

A Good Fit

Who This Is For

This approach works particularly well for Solstice residents who want experienced guidance rather than trying to piece together fitness information on their own; have demanding careers or family responsibilities and need training to fit realistically into their lives; want to become stronger and fitter without making fitness their entire identity; are returning to exercise after time away; have previous injuries or limitations that require a more thoughtful approach; enjoy hiking, biking, skiing, golf, pickleball, travel or other active pursuits; or are thinking seriously about preserving their health and physical independence over the long term.

Ian Starr

Owner & Coach, Balance Athletics

My name is Ian Starr. I opened one of the very first functional fitness facilities in the SW Denver area in 2008. I have been in continuous practice since that time, both owning and operating a facility and now as a private practitioner.

I am truly passionate about helping people reclaim their health and physical potential: those interested in wellness and longevity as well as those looking for a serious training/lifestyle prescription to enhance their performance or prepare them for their chosen sport.

I have over 18 years of working with hundreds of individuals in the areas of strength and conditioning, rehabilitation/special needs, nutrition and health coaching.

Fundamentals First

Consistency Beats Complexity

There is no shortage of fitness information.

The harder problem is knowing what actually matters for you.

Most meaningful progress still comes from getting a few fundamentals right: strength, aerobic capacity, movement, nutrition, recovery and consistency.

The details matter, but they matter most after the foundation is in place.

Good coaching helps identify what deserves your attention, builds a plan around it and keeps that plan evolving as you do.

Common Questions

Solstice Personal Training FAQ

Do I need to already be in good shape?

No. Training is adapted to your current abilities, experience and limitations. Having an appropriate starting point matters far more than arriving fit.

Do you work with adults over 60?

Absolutely. Older adults often benefit from more thoughtful attention to joint health, previous injuries, recovery, balance and progression.

Can you work around injuries?

Yes. Rehabilitation and injury-conscious programming have been part of my work for many years. Training can be modified around limitations while still improving strength and overall capacity.

Is training customized?

Yes. Programming is based on your goals, history, schedule, limitations and response to training.

Can training help with hiking, biking, skiing or other outdoor activities?

Yes. Strength, aerobic fitness, mobility, balance and movement can all be developed around the activities you care about.

Do you offer partner training?

Yes. Individual, partner and small-group coaching options are available.

Personal Training for Solstice Residents

Build a Stronger Foundation

You don’t need fitness to become another full-time responsibility.

You need a thoughtful plan, experienced guidance and enough consistency to create meaningful change.

If you live in Solstice or the surrounding Littleton area and are looking for individualized personal training, let’s start with a conversation.
